The book maybe called “Fifty Shades of Grey” but I was fifty shades of red after reading it. This deliciously salacious novel is an erotic descent into the carnal world of BDSM. The story is about the virginal and inexperienced Ana Steele, who is drawn into the “palm twitching” hands of Christian Grey, a wealthy entrepreneur with a dark sexual appetite and a darker past.
Ana Steele is a university student, who covers for a friend and interviews a young businessman who is affiliated with the school she attends. Instantly she is drawn to Christian Grey, finding herself being unable to stop thinking about him. Their paths continue to cross and it comes out that Grey himself is drawn to the innocent Steele. The sexual tension between them is voluptuously sensual, and Grey introduces Steele to his world.
James develops these characters wonderfully, especially Ana. Miss Steele battles her need for Grey with the trepidation she feels towards his lifestyle. Can Ana handle his demands and the thought of what he wants to do with her or is her need for his company enough to convince her to obey his rules. But best of all, James tactfully creates sex scenes that are orgiastic and libidinous, but aren’t nasty and obscene. This is an erotic novel and not for everyone, but for those who do not mind honest and fetish sex in novels, than this is for you. A resounding 5 out of 5.
