Family Fun in Toronto This Weekend

Standard

Since relocating to Toronto 5 years ago, I have never been let down by the endless supply of family fun things to do. Whether you are in the East End or the West, the Beaches or Scarborough, the GTA has lots of great outings and events for the family to enjoy.

  • Free Pooch Pics with Santa.  Dogs are man’s best friend and even they deserve to get their holiday wishes heard by Santa.  Tomorrow, November 30th, the Holiday Studio at 25 Karl Fraser Road will be taking photos of Santa and your pooch from 1 – 4 pm.  And as if it couldn’t get any better, the photos will be emailed to you free of charge and your dog will receive a free treat!
  • Karma Yoga. On December 1st, come by the Shops at Don Mills where people of all ages can bring their mats for free yoga sessions and a few moments to relax during this stressful time of year from 9:30 – 10:30 for FREE!
  • Markham Santa Claus Parade. You cannot kick off the holiday season without seeing a holiday parade.  November 30th from 11-12, people of all ages will line up from Hwy 7 to 16th Ave to witness the 41st Annual Markham Santa Claus Parade.
  • Santa Experience at Sherway Gardens. Everyone gets their photos done with Santa, but what if you could have sing-a-longs, stories and play with the big man in red?  For only $12 per child (tickets not required for accompanying parents), your little ones get 30 minutes of pure holiday fun with Santa at Sherway Gardens.

Give Back This Year with Toronto’s Fire Fighter’s Association Toy Drive

Standard

Shops at Don Mills Toy Drive-29Each year, people complain that their children got way more toys than they really need.  So this year, I encourage you to give one of those toys to a child in need.  Tonight, from 5 pm – 8 pm, Global Television and Shops at Don Mills have teamed up to host the annual Toronto’s Fire Fighter’s Association Toy Drive.  Put a smile on a child’s face this year by donating a new, unwrapped gift and in exchange for your goodwill, you can receive a free burger from South St. Burger and a hot drink from Aroma Espresso Bar.

If you decide bring your little ones, be sure to visit Santa and his reindeer and your children can  bring their letters for the big guy in red to the Santa Station.  The Crestwood Choir will be filling the air with wonderful holiday music and not to mention there will be live ice sculpture demonstrations.  Global Television personalities such as Leslie Roberts, Susan Hay, Liza Fromer and Anthony Farnell will be there between 5:30 and 6:30 and be sure to visit their seasonal colouring and photo booths.

Winter is Here! Fun Family Things to Do This Weekend in Toronto

Standard

Last night we had a small flurry of falling snow and in my books, as soon as the snow falls, Winter has arrived.  And despite what some may think, Toronto does not shut down (completely *wink*) in an inch of snow.  There are plenty of family fun events happening this weekend and here are just a few for you and your family to enjoy!

  • Cineplex Family Favourites. This Saturday, participating Cineplex theatres are showing family favourite movies at 11 am for only $2.50.  A portion of the proceeds goes to Starlight Children’s Foundation so not only is it a great time for the family, but it also helps a worthy cause.
  • The Natrel Rink at the Harbourfront. You cannot say that you have fully taken advantage of the Winter season without strapping on skates and enjoy the cool, crisp air.  The Natrel Rink at the Harbourfront is an outdoor rink where you can skate and take in the view of Lake Ontario.  Admission is free with rentals available onsite.
  • Kidzfest at Yonge Dundas Square.  Come by Yonge Dundas Square for family fun like rides and the Play-Doh Play centre and appearances from My Little Pony, Santa, Rapunzel and the WotWots!  Admission is free!
